Community consultation

Jemena recognises that community consultation is important

To reduce impacts associated with the construction on local residents and businesses. Consultation with the local community, local businesses, government agencies and other stakeholders was undertaken prior to construction.

Jemena also developed a community consultation plan to outline steps taken to ensure the community is kept well informed during and throughout the construction process.

Jemena will under this plan

  • conducted community information sessions
  • conducted community pre-construction surveys
  • placed project advertisements in local newspapers
  • produce newsletters
  • provided a 24 hr free call 1800 community contact number (1800 118 835)
  • provided translation and interpreter services
  • established a website with information about the scheme for residents and businesses
  • provided notifications prior to residents and businesses, prior to (approximately 1 month, 7 days and 24 hrs prior) and after construction activity.

Community feedback was used to inform the project team of potential environmental, social and economic impacts associated with the project.

Local knowledge and feedback from the community, businesses and other stakeholders helped Jemena to identify possible design, construction or operational measures that could mitigate impacts associated with the proposed Rosehill Recycled Water Scheme.
